Handy Middle School in Bay City has been recognized as a Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools National Banner program. Handy is one of approximately 350 schools in the U.S. to receive the honor this year.
Six Unified high school flag football teams competed at Ford Field on November 30 with teams comprised of Special Olympics Michigan athletes and high school students.
More than 1,100 athletes from 50 counties across the state will compete in the Special Olympics Michigan Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling State Finals in Holt and Lansing from November 23-24. The Poly Hockey Finals will take place at Holt High School’s main and north campus locations with he Unified Bowling Finals, which features athletes with and without intellectual disabilities competing together on the same teams, being held at Royal Scot in Lansing.
