TEAM MICHIGAN | Special Olympics USA Games Update | June 25, 2026

The final full day of competition at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games was one to remember, as Team Michigan added 10 more medals to its total. To date, Michigan athletes have earned 56 medals this week, with more anticipated tomorrow.
In Athletics, Molly Hincka delivered a historic performance, winning gold in the 10,000-meter race while setting a new USA Games record with a time of 53:39, breaking the previous mark of 55:54. Kassidy Harding captured gold in the running long jump and added a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash. Sammie Thum earned silver medals in both the shot put and 100-meter dash, while William Seelbach claimed silver in the 100-meter dash and Qori Nelson took silver in the 800-meter run.
In team competition, Unified Volleyball earned a silver medal after an unforgettable championship match that came down to a single point in the third set. While the result wasn’t the gold, the friendships formed with the Florida team will last far beyond the final whistle. Soccer finished with a bronze medal, and Flag Football brought home silver after a hard-fought championship game against New Jersey, creating another lasting bond with its opponents.
The medals tell part of the story, but the friendships, sportsmanship, and moments of inclusion made Thursday a win for Team Michigan.
