In-person events postponed through July 31, Virtual Summer Games still happening

Following guidance from Special Olympics International (SOI), Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) has made the decision to extend its postponement of in-person events through July 31, 2020 as it formulates a gradual return to activities plan.

This postponement includes all in-person sport, training and competition activities as well as all-in person fundraising events. It does not affect the Virtual Summer Games, which will be held as planned from July 19-25.

This extended postponement does not mean that SOMI’s fall sports seasons are cancelled.

Once finalized, we will share SOMI’s return to activities plan detailing how we will proceed with events moving forward.
