Amerisure's dedication to excellence extends beyond extraordinary efforts in the insurance industry. It defines the commitment we bring to everything we do, including our support of Special Olympics. Our involvement with Special Olympics began more than twenty years ago. But we renewed our commitment in 2002 with financial support and volunteer efforts, including sponsorship of the Special Olympics Michigan Summer Sports Classic-an annual competition featuring softball and golf events.

Each year, our volunteers provide assistance to golfers with driving, chipping, and putting while others work the softball games by keeping score, distributing water, or anything else that helps the athletes perform. Making sure the athletes have a great experience is the common goal of all. "It not only makes a difference in the lives of the athletes, but also in the lives of our volunteers," added Senior Human Resources Consultant Kari Olds.

Since 2002, Amerisure has raised over $ $269,000.00, and has more than 40 employees that volunteer on an annual basis. In February of 2010, Amerisure participated for the first time in SOMI's Polar Plunge. This event brought more than just goose bumps to the employees and executives that jumped. The costumes brought smiles to the faces of employees that came to cheer them on, and the end result was raising an additional $25,000 in donations from Amerisure friends and family.

According to Doug Kinnan, former board member of Special Olympics Michigan, "Special Olympics depends on volunteers, and Amerisure employees are great volunteers. I'm very proud to be part of an organization that gives back to the community the way Amerisure does. Our employees love and fully embrace the opportunity to volunteer. It reflects the kind of company we are and the type of people we have" said Kinnan.
