During Run Week, additional LETR members will be making the nonstop 750-mile relay that starts in Copper Harbor in the tip of the Upper Peninsula and ends downstate in Sterling Heights. This is known as the Central Route run and starts early on September 9, and ends on Friday September 15. This relay is composed of three teams; Michigan State Police, Fraternal Order of Police and Michigan Department of Corrections. Each team has at least 6 runners who each run a five mile leg. Each team runs 30 miles at a time. These runners have been raising money all year so they can participate in the event. LETR has more than 85,000 law enforcement officers involved worldwide and has raised more than $300 million dollars in the 33 years that it has supported Special Olympics.
