Stephanie Reinks accepts the Perkins Cottee Sportsmanship Award at the 2015 State Fall Games.

This year's Perkins Cottee Sportsmanship Award was presented to Stephanie Reinks from Area 11 (Kent and Barry Counties) during the 2015 State Fall Games Opening Ceremony in Ypsilanti.

Stephanie has participated as a Special Olympics Michigan soccer player for the past four years. She is an all around exceptional teammate, who is continuously conscientious about how to make a team better as a whole. She sheds nothing but positive light and encouragement despite the outcome of a game.

"I think it is awesome. I encourage (my teammates) by praising them. Thank you a lot, Special Olympics," Stephanie said on winning the award.

The Perkins Cottee Sportsmanship Award is presented to a Soccer athlete that displays teamwork, is a gracious winner or loser - accepting the challenge in either outcome, exhibits a positive attitude towards Special Olympics competition.

Stephanie is known for more than just her reputation as an uplifting teammate. She is also portrayed in the 2012 TV Movie, "A Smile As Big As the Moon", which is based on the true story of a special education class from West Michigan that became the first special education team to attend the NASA's prestigious space camp program.
