More than 200 athletes, coaches and chaperones will gather on Feb. 25-26, 2011 for the 2011 District Basketball Tournament at Escanaba High School in Escanaba, Mich. This is one of six District Basketball Tournaments that will determine which athletes progress to the State Basketball Finals March 25-26 in Rockford, Mich.
The Escanaba District Basketball Tournament will feature senior male teams, which include athletes around age 16 and older.
Teams will include athletes from eight areas and from the following counties, Area 1 (Schoolcraft, Menominee, and Delta) Area 33 (Emmet, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Otsego), Area 35 Chippewa, Mackinac, Luce, Area 36 (Marquette, Alger, Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw), Area 38 (Iron and Dickinson) and Area 39 (Ontonagon and Gogebic).

Awards will be given out immediately following games competition.
Games will consist of four six minute quarters. First place teams will receive a trophy and second through fourth place teams will receive ribbons immediately following the tournament. Special Events like arts and crafts and other interactive activities will be offered throughout the day.

District Basketball Tournaments will take place in six communities including St. Johns, Bay City, Northville, Saline, Caledonia and Escanaba.The State Basketball Finals will be held March 25-26 at Rockford High School in Rockford. Approximately 800 athletes, coaches and chaperones will be in attendance. Anyone is encouraged to attend, donate, or volunteer.
