Hail to the Plungers!

This is a great and new opportunity for Special Olympics Michigan and the University of Michigan! We are partnering to provide plungers an experience of a lifetime in Michigan Stadium- The Big House! Plungers will suit up like a Wolverine when they change in the locker rooms. They will also get the opportunity to walk through the tunnel and take the plunge ON the field, inside a pool.

Michigan will hold 28 Polar Plunges in 2013. Polar Plunges are a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event. LETR is one of the largest grassroots fundraisers for Special Olympics globally. LETR consists of officers from both Law Enforcement and Corrections who raise funds and create awareness for SOMI year round. 2013 Plunge sites include Alpena, Belleville, Brighton, Caro, Cheboygan, Chippewa Lake, Detroit, Edwardsburg, Fenton, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Holland, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lake City, Lansing, Lansing Legislative, Marquette, Monroe, Mt. Pleasant, Muskegon, Saginaw/Bay City, St. Clair, Sault Ste. Marie, Stanton, Sylvan Lake, Traverse City and University of Michigan.

By participating in this Polar Plunge you are helping to raise funds for over 19,000 athletes who participate in Special Olympics Michigan. Special Olympics Michigan is a year round program offering sports for those with intellectual disabilities. Although sports are the "vehicle," the ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate and receive respect as members of their communities.
