More than 150 Special Olympics Michigan athletes and 50 coaches/chaperones from around the state will gather Sept.8 in Chelsea for the 2012 State Cycling Finals. The competition will take place at Chrysler Group LLC's Chelsea Proving Grounds.

The State Cycling Final is one of eight state-level competitions held annually for Special Olympics Michigan athletes. There are also more than 440 annual local and regional competitions.

This event offers a wide variety of opportunities to the media. Special Olympics Michigan athletes, volunteers and coaches will be available for interviews and photographs.

FLAG FOOTBALL EXPO
As we continue to view Flag Football as a future sport we are inviting team(s) from your area to come and compete at a flag football expo in conjunction with the cycling finals at Chelsea on September 8th. We are currently asking for registrations from teams in order to organize a Flag Football expo, in which teams that attend will compete against each other as a trial run for this sport. If you have further questions, contact Heather Burke.

The expo will take place at Chelsea Public Schools, location details will follow in the second mailing. We will be offering flag football skills event for everyone as time permits, traditional and unified team also.
