UCanRow2 - a New, Special Event at the 2012 State Winter Games

Indoor rowing racing for special awards is coming to this year's State Winter Games after five years as a demonstration sport! What better way to harness the Olympic spirit than by giving athletes a chance to compete in their own rowing special event. On Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 3 to 9 p.m. in Peninsula Room A/B at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, athletes will row 500 meters on a rowing machine and their times will be ranked. The top 12 to 16 athletes per age group will be posted and invited back to race for special awards Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m.

The top three finishers in each age group will receive special medals, and all participants will get ribbons for their racing efforts. Rowing competition is a fast-paced, exciting special event that is almost as much fun to watch as it is to do. Even if you're not participating we hope you will join us on Wednesday night to cheer on the athletes and see what the indoor rowing revolution is all about. Row on!
