Gorgeous weather greeted boaters for the 16th annual Lake St. Clair Fun Run on Wednesday, June 27. This year's fundraiser, organized by members of the Water Warriors and Wertz Warriors, was the most successful so far. It raised about $19,000 for Special Olympics Michigan athletes. That brings the running total for all 16 years to more than $203,000!

Organizer Ann Plegue said, "Thank you to all the boaters for your generosity and contributions! Thank you for having the true meaning and spirit of Special Olympics Michigan at heart while participating in the poker run."

Plegue is now preparing for the 22nd annual Water Warriors Mackinaw Ride 5-day, 350-mile personal watercraft endurance ride July 23-27 from Mackinaw City to Harsens Island.
