Global Strategic Plan Alignment

The Special Olympics Strategic Plan lays out a vision and strategy for the next five years. The document is a testament to the power of our Special Olympics Movement coming together towards common goals.
Special Olympics Michigan was one of seven state programs to align with the global plan. In recognition of that, we were invited to join Special Olympics International/Special Olympics North America staff for a Strategic Planning Summit in Chicago on July 26 and 27, 2011. Each Program was asked to present its strategic plan and discuss the successes and challenges of aligning their plan with the Global Plan. All parties walked away with best practices, ideas to enhance the process next time and steps to driving their plan to the local level. The Programs that were invited had successfully aligned their Program Plans with the Global Plan and were considered some of the best in the Movement.
The Special Olympics Michigan Strategic Plan was created in alignment with the global plan. Our strategic plan and five year goals were created with input from area directors, board members, and staff members. Every one of our area programs has been asked to create three to five goals toward fulfilling the Strategic Plan.
Later this month we will provide you the Strategic Plan brochure with detailed information on the vision for the next five years.
